Parisa Rahimian
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, with specialization in holistic counseling. I enjoy working with children of all ages and teens to help them overcome their struggles. I believe my years of experience working with kids and their families, as well as having first hand experience as a parent of an intense “Atypical” child has given me a deep understanding of how difficult life can be when children are struggling. These experiences has also shown me over and over again, that once the needs of the child and family is met and the right strategies are identified and used, a more joyful and fulfilling life is possible. I have a master degree in counseling psychology with a holistic specialization. Being a holistic therapist means, addressing the physical, mental, and emotional person as a whole, and their relationship to the world around them. In holistic Counseling, treatment is not just about looking at “symptoms” and finding the right “diagnosis”, but seeing the whole child as a unique person with strengths and weaknesses. My job as a therapist is to draw on the strengths of the child as well as give them tools and skills they might be lacking. I have experience working with children and teens in school settings, at their home, as well as in the office.
Parents are a very important part of my treatment approach, as they know their children and their needs better than anyone else. Part of my job is to guide and empower parents to better help their children.
I have a special interest in working with intense, "hard to reach" teens, and have had great success with that population in my practice. My approach is to tailor my treatment and sessions to each client's specific needs. I look forward to helping your child and family find strategies that would bring a positive change in you life.

About

Carrie Paulus
At any age, there are developmental, transitional and often unexpected circumstances that challenge us in life. Be it aspects of parenting, the social or emotional challenges of being a child or teenager, or concerns about life transitions as an adult, my approach is safe and comfortable. I work from a place of patience, sincerity, humor and nonjudgement. I want the counseling experience for my clients to feel helpful, worthwhile and to be a journey to better understanding and personal growth.
Children have an amazing capacity for emotional growth and healing. My work with them follows a play therapy framework, allowing them to "work", in a natural way. Play is the work that children do! With adolescents, listening, validating, normalizing and assisting with challenges while coming up with coping strategies is the core of my work.
Divorce has become a new phenomenon in our culture. This life transition affects all family members in different ways. Anxiety and stress are also very prevalent for kids/teens in our society. Establishing goals and working together for your child's personal or familial adjustment, growth and satisfaction describes the therapeutic journey.

Parisa is very good with both my 5-year-old and my 15-year-old boys. They both actually WANT to go to the sessions and she has helped me to better understand their ADHD and Anxiety. My husband and I also do parent sessions with her to strategize solutions to problems we are having in our family.

I am so blessed to have found Parisa. She helped my kids but she also helped me, as their mother. I am stronger now and the biggest advocate for my kids-she helped us to grow as a family.
My kids are also more confident and happy now.
Please go see her if your kids are suffering. Please go see her if you are struggling to reach them. She can help you.
